root canal therapy
What is Root Canal Therapy?
Root Canal Therapy (Endodontics) is needed when the pulp inside your tooth becomes infected through tooth decay or damage. RCT helps to prevent the infection spreading which may otherwise lead to an abscess or even possible tooth extraction.
Our Endodontics expert Dr Steeden will perform Root Canal Therapy to halt the infection and preserve as much of your tooth as possible. Using advanced techniques and equipment, we ensure the minimum discomfort to the patient during this procedure.
RCT: what to expect..
The aim of the RCT treatment is to remove all infection from the affected root canal and then the root cavity is cleaned and filled. Initially a temporary filling is put in and the tooth is left to settle. Once a subsequent visit confirms that the infection has cleared up, then the tooth is permanently filled.
Root canal treatment is a skilled and time-consuming procedure and most courses of treatment will involve two or more visits. In some cases there will the need to restore the affected tooth with a dental crown.
