Foundation Dentist
Currently, I am taking part in a longitudinal programme called JDFCT which combines primary and secondary care involving being placed in practice and hospital settings. In my present rotation, I am stationed in Addenbrookes Hospital in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department as a MaxFax SHO. Here, my days are filled with a diverse array of experiences, from assisting in oral cancer surgical cases, carrying out on-call roles, minor oral surgery days and seeing referral patients sent from their GDP/GP.
One week I may be scrubbing into theatre to assist with a neck dissection and the next I’ll be carrying out fillings and root canal treatments which certainly keeps my weeks interesting. I look forward to my upcoming rotations in Maxfax/Oral Surgery and Special Care Dentistry.
I am enthusiastic about having a minimally invasive approach to dentistry in which we focus on the prevention of disease and I am keen to have good dentist-patient rapport as we work together to aim for good dental health.
