Bad breath is a particularly unwelcome problem and it can have a number of different causes including:

  • Ineffective dental hygiene
  • Smoking
  • Consuming heavily flavoured foods such as garlic
  • A medical condition, such as a throat, nose or lung infection

You can help to prevent unpleasant odours by brushing your teeth at least twice a day, as well as flossing, which will remove trapped food and plaque.

Reducing your intake of sugary foods and drinks will help prevent tooth decay, and regular visits to the hygienist will minimise plaque deposits, which can contribute to bad breath.
