As we take a preventive approach to dental care, we encourage you to bring your children to see us from an early age, so we can keep a close eye on their teeth. If youngsters attend regular dental check-ups, we can help keep their growing teeth healthy by detecting and treating tooth decay before it worsens. Visiting the practice from a young age will also help them become familiar with the sights and sounds of the dental surgery and make them less likely to develop a fear of the dentist.
To help protect young teeth, we can apply a fluoride varnish to strengthen enamel and cover the grooved biting surfaces of the back teeth to shield them from decay. We can also identify orthodontic problems and, if necessary, refer them to an orthodontist who will be able to correct any issues.
