If the jaw bone is not kept stimulated by the presence of natural teeth, it can begin to lose volume. If this happens, it may be difficult to place implants, as there will not be secure enough support. However, we may be able to improve the quality of the bone by performing a sinus lift.
This involves surgically placing graft material into the sinus cavity above the jaw, which fuses with the surrounding bone to create a solid structure. When there is enough bone to provide a firm foundation, implants can be placed.
