We can use inlays and onlays to restore areas of decay which are too extensive to be repaired with a normal filling, usually in teeth at the back of the mouth. Made from materials such as porcelain or composite resin, they are hard-wearing and blend in with your natural teeth.
Unlike a conventional filling, inlays and onlays are created outside the mouth, from an impression taken of the tooth. An inlay is placed within the cavity and an onlay covers more of the tooth’s biting surface.
We take impressions of your teeth and a dental technician creates your tailor-made inlay or onlay. While you are waiting for your restoration, we protect the prepared tooth with a temporary filling. When your inlay or onlay has been produced, we fix it firmly in place with a strong dental adhesive.
If you just can’t wait for your natural-looking restoration, we can produce inlays and onlays in just one appointment using the innovative CEREC milling machine. This clever technology cuts down on the number of appointments and eradicates the need for a temporary restoration.
